Open house tomorrow for election candidates
The 2014 Municipal Election period has officially begun. Nominations for Mayor, six (6) City Councillors and one (1) School Trustee are open.
Candidates have until 4 p.m. on Friday, October 10, to get their nomination packages in.
Candidates are required to have two local nominators and need a nomination deposit of $100 to run. Nominations packages are available online at www.fernie.ca or can be picked up in person at Fernie City Hall, 501-3rd Avenue, Fernie, BC.
An open house will be held on Thursday, October 2, from 7 to 8 p.m. in City of Fernie Council Chambers, (City Hall, 501-3rd Avenue) to answer any questions candidates or potential candidates may have as to the role of council and campaign rules for the upcoming local government election.
