Public warned to stay away from attack area

BC COThe BC Conservation Officer Service (COS) is warning the public via their Facebook page to avoid an area around the eight kilometre mark of the Findlay Creek Forest Service Road near Canal Flats after a recent grizzly bear attack.

A fisherman had a surprise encounter with the bear along the river resulting in injuries to the angler.

“Due to the nature of the incident, the COS is not attempting to capture the bear. The immediate area around the attack site has been marked and the warning will be in place for the next several days,” the COS commented.
