Raffle helps out ICU

A logging truck full of dry larch was the top prize in a raffle to raise funds for the new ICU currently under construction at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. The logging truck full of larch was generously donated by Silverado Construction and KD Electric.

Hosted at KD Electric’s Wheels of Steele 2 event on June 20 during Sam Steele Days weekend, the raffle was a great success and raised $2,410 for the new ICU. Event goers were treated to a showcase of talent and the opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket with a chance of walking away with a logging truck full of larch. The lucky winner was Darryl Spooner of Cranbrook.

Chase Thielen, owner of Silverado Construction commented, “I strongly believe that it’s important for businesses to contribute to the community in which they live and work and, for me, health care is at the core of a healthy, happy and vibrant community.”

“Community support will help to ensure that East Kootenay residents will have access to the very best healthcare services and programs, right here in our region. We’re grateful for community partners like Silverado Construction and KD Electric who continue to make a difference in the thousands of lives who turn to the EKRH for high-quality care,” said Patricia Whalen, Assistant Executive Director, East Kootenay Foundation for Health.

The EKFH team warmly thanks our two organizers for their remarkable work and donation of the logging truck full of larch and the participants for their involvement.

The fundraising drive to raise $1,000,000 to fully equip the only ICU in the East Kootenay continues; donations can be made on-line through www.ekfh.ca. Every donation, big or small means that – together – we can give patients in the East Kootenay the gift of gold standard healthcare.

Silverado Construction and KD Electric have provided a standard of excellence in the realm of construction in the Cranbrook area for a number of years; Silverado Construction since 2008 and KD Electric since 1986.
