Random act of kindness

June 6 was a memorable and exciting day in Cranbrook.

Some of the committee members from the Cranbrook Celebration for Peace Society and a contingent of students from the College of the Rockies International Students joined forces to perform a random act of kindness for the City of Cranbrook, Leisure Services of Cranbrook and the citizens of our city.

These groups cleaned up the empty lot behind Wal-Mart and the empty lot by RDEK Transfer Station and Home Hardware. The enthusiasm and joy of being able to do this act of service was apparent on all the smiling faces, even though this was our hottest day of the year so far!

Truly amazing is the heritage represented from so many countries: Canada, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Scotland and Norway.

The Cranbrook Celebration for Peace Society committee extends a very warm invitation to everyone to attend United Nations International Day of Peace Celebration Sept. 20 in Rotary Park at 1 p.m.

These awesome, high-energy International Students will be part of the celebration. You will want to be there! Let’s fill Rotary Park with happy smiling faces!
