The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) board of directors’ leadership will remain the same for 2014.

Regional directors this morning (Dec. 6) re-elected Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay as board chair and Electoral Area F Director Wendy Booth as vice-chair.

Electoral Area A Director Mike Sosnowski nominated Gay and District of Elkford Mayor Dean McKerracher nominated Booth. Both received unanimous support from the board and no other directors were nominated.

“I am really honoured with this position, thank you very much,” Gay told fellow directors.

Booth echoed the chair. “I have really enjoyed being the vice-chair the last year,” she said, adding she believes that together, she and Gay and regional administration “work well together.”

Following the vote, held during the December meeting each year, Gay initiated a minute of silence for South African legend Nelson Mandela, who died yesterday.
