Regional directors sworn into office

The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) board of directors for 2014/2015 was sworn into office today during a brief ceremony in the Cranbrook boardroom.

Several new faces were sworn into regional office for the first time Dec. 11, including newly elected City of Cranbrook Mayor Lee Pratt and Coun. Tom Shypitka, newly elected City of Kimberley Mayor Don McCormick, acclaimed Village of Radium Hot Springs Mayor Clara Reinhardt and Electoral Area B Director Stan Doehle.

Returning to familiar seats around the boardroom are: Electoral Area A Director Mike Sosnowski; Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay; Electoral Area D Director Jane Walter; Electoral Area F Director Wendy Booth; Electoral Area G Director Gerry Wilkie; Village of Canal Flats Mayor Ute Juras; District of Invermere Mayor Gerry Taft; District of Elkford Mayor Dean McKerracher and City of Fernie Mayor Mary Giuliano.

And a familiar face returned to the regional board after several terms out of politics in the form of District of Sparwood Mayor Cal McDougall.

With the departure of Electoral Area B Director Heath Slee, the longest serving directors at the RDEK table now are Area C’s Rob Gay, Area A’s Mike Sosnowski and Elkford Mayor Dean McKerracher.
