David Wilks (Kootenay—Columbia MP, CPC) rose in Parliament this morning to make a statement about the three slain Moncton RCMP officers.

The following is a transcript of what Sparwood resident Wilks said.

“Mr. Speaker, tomorrow, police officers from across North America will gather in Moncton, New Brunswick to say their good-byes to three fallen members of the RCMP; good-byes that are being said way too early in life, good-byes that cannot be explained.

“The police community is tight knit and when something like this happens, it stirs strong emotions in each and every one of us. The day will be filled with many tears.

“As a retired member of the RCMP, it stirs up memories that I will never forget.

“To the families of Const. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, and Const. Douglas James Larche and Const. David Ross, we will always be with them. Canadians will hold them in their thoughts and prayers in the days, weeks and months to come.

“God bless each and every one of them.”
