School District No. 6 nomination period extended

It’s one of the big nightmares feared by all chief electoral officers during a municipal election.

What if no one runs for a given position?

It rarely happens but it appears to be the case as we head toward the Nov. 19 municipal and school board elections, as no one has yet filed papers for the Kimberley/Area E Trustee for School District No. 6.

As a result the nomination period, which closed late this afternoon (Friday, Oct. 14), has been extended until 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, for Kimberley/Area E School Board of Trustees director only.

Nomination packages are available at the Regional District of East Kootenay office in Cranbrook or the school district office in Invermere.

Nominations will be received by the Chief Election Officer at the RDEK office in Cranbrook from 8:30 a-m to 4 p.m., Monday, Oct 17.
