SD5 Board Notes

The following is a round up of motions carried during the Rocky Mountain School District’s (School District No. 5) board of trustees’ meeting Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Jaffray.

Committee meetings are not scheduled for the month of December. As a result, only general motions were carried at January’s public board meeting.

Motions carried

– That the board approves a school registration deadline of February 28 for the 2014/2015 school year.

– That the board write a letter to the Provincial government in support of the Early Development Indicator continuing on a yearly basis rather than the new, three year cycle and indicating that the District makes good use of the information provided by the EDI.

– Three readings of the Capital Project Bylaw – Project No. 126682 School Bus Replacement (expenditure of $81,141).

– Two readings of the amended Annual Budget Bylaw 2013/2014. In June the board sends a preliminary budget to Government based on projected incomes and expenditures for the upcoming school year (2013/2014). In January the budget is finalized based on actual income (ie: funding based on enrolment etc.) and expenditures of the current school year.

Feedback needed by Jan. 29

To accept the draft 2014-2015 School Calendar and distribute it to stakeholders for feedback by January 29; to be approved by the Board of Education at the February 11 Board meeting.

*Draft calendar will be posted on the SD5 website along with instructions on how to provide feedback.
