Strike forces new fireworks venue

Due to the ongoing B.C. teacher’s strike, the annual Sand Creek Community Club Canada Day festivities in Jaffray have to change the venue for the fireworks extravaganza.

The Jaffray School grounds are not available because of the strike and as a result Will-O-Bend Golf Course has offered to host the fireworks.

Will-O-Bend’s Clubhouse Kitchen will be open late until the fireworks begin. Park in their parking lot, bring your lawn chair and enjoy a late dinner at the golf course. Please respect the flagged areas so we can make sure no damage is done to the greens, etc.

The Jaffray Pub and Sunrise Grill will open their parking lot for the public to park. Bring a lawn chair and watch the fireworks or sit on their patio and enjoy some beverages and wings while the explosions go off.

And Jaffray Sports and Hardware will also be open late for your convenience. Enjoy a coffee or ice cream cone while watching the fireworks. Feel free to park in front of the sports shop.

All three locations will be serving free birthday cake at 9 p.m.
