Strong advance polls lead to Nov. 15 election

The 2014 Kimberley Municipal Election had another successful turnout of eligible electors registering their vote at Centennial Centre on Wednesday (Nov. 12).

A total of 484 ballots were cast at the second Advance Voting Opportunity, bringing the current total to 870 electors, 45 of those being registered new voters. The total represents 16.6% of the eligible electors on the voter’s list. In the 2011 municipal election, the City of Kimberley had a 53% voter turnout.

Kimberley voters seemed pleased with the ease of the new voting process using the automated voting machine. Residents are reminded that voting in the City of Kimberley election is limited to Resident Electors, and Non-Resident Property Electors.

Special Voting for the Kimberley Municipal Election takes place today at various locations in Kimberley and at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital for Kimberley residents. For specific locations and times on Special Voting and other election information, please click on the red ‘November 15 City Election’ icon on the city’s web site landing page at www.kimberley.ca.

General Voting Day is tomorrow, Saturday, November 15, at Centennial Centre, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Your vote counts, so get out and vote!
