Studio/Stage Door feted on 40th anniversary
Cranbrook and area’s theatre and arts community, as well as a host of city dignitaries last night celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Studio/Stage Door.
A meet and greet reception hosted by Cranbrook Community Theatre (CCT) members provided glimpses into the rich past of the former Masonic Hall that was spared the wrecking ball and allowed to be used by the CCT since 1974.
A special series of presentations and performances followed in the theatre, including a history of the building by beloved stage artist Bud Abbott and a look back at the CCT by venerated director and theatre icon Terry Miller.
City of Cranbrook Mayor Wayne Stetski provided some perspective of time’s passage between 1974 and 2014, including informing the audience that he possessed shoulder length curly locks 40 years ago.
Several audience members and performers noted similar remembrances with chuckles.
