Wandering around Sam Steele Days

The City of Cranbrook was post-to-post alive with family activities, sports, food and fun during 50th annual Sam Steele Days weekend, June 19-22.

A vast variety of events, contests and competitions took place around the city, from Moir Park to the Quads to College of the Rockies to Tamarack Mall to Baker Mall to the Cranbrook and District Arts Council Gallery to Belmont Park where moto-cross riders flew through the sky.

The hub of the fun was located in Rotary Park and downtown Cranbrook Saturday afternoon following the parade.

A Taste of Cranbrook and dozens of vendors filled the park, while the Strong Man Competition attracted hundreds of onlookers on 10th Avenue.

Up the street, Paw’s Weiner Dog Races once again resulted in both sides of the streets and sidewalks jammed as people of all ages enjoyed the hilarious unscripted antics of excited wee, short-legged pooches.

The Loggers Show, go-carts, Bartender Races at Dewey’s, arm wrestling at the Byng Roadhouse and much, much more provided residents and visitors with more fun than an individual could take in.

During Sunday-in-the-Park the Kiddies Parade lit up Rotary Park, as did the Princess Tea and Moustache Growing Contests, wall climbing and more.
