Water system flushing begins April 15

The District of Invermere will be flushing its community water system starting the week of April 15 for the next eight weeks.

This program, carried out twice yearly, is necessary to maintain the quality of our water supply, the district explained on its Facebook page. There may be some short interruptions in the water service and temporary discolouration of water as a result of the sediment and organic materials that are being flushed from the water mains. During this period, disinfection by chlorination will be continued.

To assist the Public Works Department during the flushing operation, users are advised that if they are experiencing persistent discoloration or odor problems with the water, to immediately notify the municipal office and explain the nature of the problem. (Call 250-342-9281 ext 1225).
