Man observed hunting in Windermere near school

During the morning hours of September 24 and September 26, Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a bow hunter stalking deer within the townsite of Windermere.

A male, dressed in camouflage, appeared to be hunting deer within metres of homes and Windermere Elementary School.

An integrated approach was taken as police attended and met with the Conservation Officer. Patrols by both agencies were made in the area but did not turn up anyone.

The public should be aware that hunting within 100m of a residence or 500m within schoolyard is not only dangerous, but illegal. When the culprit is caught he could be facing several Wildlife Act charges as well as Criminal Code charges for Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the public.
