This incredible observation of a wolf chasing a butterfly and photo was made by Alan Dibb, Kootenay National Park’s Wildlife Specialist.
“On Tuesday I was watching a wolf trotting north along the edge of the 93S road allowance. Suddenly something caught her attention and she whirled around to try to get a closer look at whatever it was. It turned out to be a small black butterfly. The wolf turned a couple of complete circles in pursuit of the butterfly before giving up the chase and carrying on in her original direction,” Dibb explained to Friends of Kootenay member Larry Halverson.
