Steamboat Festival granted licence

The Steamboat Mountain Music Society’s request for a special event licence was May 6 granted by the Regional District of East Kootenay board of directors.

This year’s Steamboat Mountain Music Festival is being held July 2, again in the playing field of Edgewater Elementary School (4810 Selkirk Avenue).

The special event licence stipulates an exemption to a regional noise regulation bylaw for the run of the festival, 12 to 10 p.m.

The annual music festival, entering its fifth year, features local and visiting musical acts, food vendors, children’s activities, a silent auction, beer garden and various vendors.

“This particular festival is very much a family affair. The music is confined to small, local groups. It’s very much a low-key family event,” Electoral Area G Director and Edgewater resident Gerry Wilkie told fellow board members before they voted unanimously to grant the licence.
