Classroom Winners at T.M. Roberts Elementary

BC Hydro was pleased to present $1,000 to the Classroom Winners at T.M. Roberts Elementary School for their nomination in the Community Champion program. They were one of 25 schools across the province randomly chosen to receive $1,000 for their nomination and sustainability project.

Madam De Klerk’s Grade 4 class showed their support for Columbia Basin Environmental Education Network by nominating them for their entry in the program. As part of their nomination the students had to submit a sustainability project they plan to undertake in their school. In the spring, the Grade 4 class will research, complete a writing assignment and create a garden of flowering plants, which attract bees and help them pollinate.

The BC Hydro Community Champion program is an opportunity for youth to engage with their local community groups to learn how to make an environmental difference and be a positive force in their local community. At the presentation was Madam De Klerk and her Grade 4 class and Tyler Hubbard, BC Hydro Design Technician.
