Family honours daughter’s wishes

Even though it is one of the most difficult times of their life, Michelle Evans and Laine Evans of Cranbrook recently reached out to East Kootenay Foundation for Health to fulfill a wish of their daughter.

Regrettably their 18-year-old daughter Kassy’s young life ended much too soon. During this difficult time Michelle and Laine learned more about their daughter and her desire to give back to her community and specifically health care.

A simple line of written words from this beautiful young woman indicated that she would like to see something special purchased for the regional hospital’s emergency department.

After much discussion the item chosen was a blanket warmer that offers patients a comfortable and warm environment while in the ER.

“Someone laid a warm blanket over me as I was hugging Kassy,” tears Michelle. “I’m sure it was to prevent me going into shock but that warmth washed right over me. To honour Kassy we hope that the blanket warmer we’ve chosen will bring that same warmth to other families,” adds Evans.

A legacy gift can shape the lives of those who come after you and translate into improving the lives of others. To learn more about planned giving programs at EKFH visitwww.ekfh.ca.
