Fire Flow Testing Program continues to May 14
The annual testing and inspection process of the City of Cranbrook’s fire hydrants continues and is scheduled to proceed through to Saturday, May 14.
The program, which will run between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., seven days per week, is important to ensure the hydrant infrastructure is at its best and that the service is available to Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services if needed.
Residents and business owners, especially food service establishments, need to be aware that with the flushing program sediment will be kicked up causing the water to appear dirty. Those food service establishments are strongly encouraged to take any proactive measures to ensure that their operations are minimally affected by the flushing.
Any water discolouration you may notice is not a public health concern. If you do find your water is dirty, please run your cold-water tap until the water runs clear. Higher levels of sediment in the water lines can last up to 24 to 48 hours depending on water use.
