A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Kids

Monster Theatre’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Kids, based on a play written by William Shakespeare 400 years ago, is a treat for the whole family.

In this adaptation, showing at Cranbrook’s Key City Theatre on Saturday, March 11 at 2 p.m., Shakespeare himself is a character. He has a new play that has to be finished tomorrow for the Duke’s wedding. While working on it he gets tired and falls asleep.

In his dream we discover dancing fairies, a magical forest, four confused Athenians, magic love potions, songs, and so much more. Shakespeare himself is transformed into a donkey and the Queen of the fairies falls in love with him. Can Shakespeare wake up in time to finish his play? Find out!

Parents will be pleased that learning about Shakespeare, the greatest writer of all time is easy and fun. In the performance you can look at social roles and how they have changed, how theatre has changed, even how language itself has changed. Shakespeare himself invented thousands of words that we use today.

Monster Theatre has been touring plays for young audiences since their very first production in 2000. They are passionate about sharing history, stories and myths in a new way to make them relevant for today’s audiences.

Tickets $10. Tickets are available at the Key City Theatre Box Office 250-426-7006
