Vimy Ridge anniversary parade Sunday in Cranbrook

The 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge is being recognized with a ceremonial parade down 10th Avenue South in downtown Cranbrook to the Cenotaph at Rotary Park on Sunday afternoon (April 9).

The sensational First World War battle (April 9, 1917) and victory for the Canadian Armed Forces is now considered a seminal point in Canada’s history; the moment when our nation emerged as a strong member of the world’s nation states.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24 is hosting the 100th anniversary parade, with Cranbrook Air and Army Cadets and Creston Air Cadets participating.

The parade form up is at the Credit Union parking lot at 1:45 p.m. and the march down to the Cenotaph begins at 2 p.m.. Following services the march will return to the staging point for dismissal.
