Planned power outage for Elkford area

BC Hydro will be conducting a planned power outage in the Elkford area on Nov. 6.

“We need to switch off power in your area for about six hours while we conduct system maintenance. To keep our crews and the public safe, power must be cut off while we complete this work,” reported BC Hydro in a public notice.

The outage, planned to go from midnight to 5 a.m., will cover the District of Elkford, including Highway 43 south to Bursato Road.

Adding a slight touch of complexity to this outage is the fact that the annual autumn time change takes place on Sunday as well. Clocks are to be turned back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, ending Daylight Savings Time for another year.

To protect your equipment from damage during the outage, please turn off all lights, electrical heaters, major appliances and unplug all electronics, BC Hydro advises.
