Police investigate logging truck rollover fatality
On September 2, at approximately 6:20 a.m., members of the Elk Valley RCMP were notified that a fully loaded logging truck had rolled over and gone down a steep embankment on the Elk River Forest Service Road (at the 30 km marker), off of Coal Creek Road, Fernie.
The driver and lone occupant of the truck was reportedly trapped in the vehicle and has since been confirmed deceased.
Ongoing efforts to extricate the driver are currently hampered due to the danger that the terrain at the accident scene poses.
Police are continuing their investigation but it is believed that road conditions may have been a contributing factor.
There is no further information at this time.
