Preventing Melt Water Damage

Spring is here and the snow is melting fast. To prevent damage from melt water, homeowners are encouraged take action to protect their own property. Plan how to divert melt water away from buildings and keep that path clear. Sandbags can help direct water if needed.  Residents, with a valid street occupancy permit (no fee), are encouraged to dump snow at the municipal snow dump to reduce the risk of melt water damage. City crews will only be addressing melt water concerns on city property.

Pothole Reporting

City crews fix potholes on a regular basis, fitting the work in between other duties. You can help by reporting potholes so we can add them to our list.  Be sure to take note of the street address or crossroads nearest the pothole and report it to the Operations Department by emailing [email protected] or by calling 250-427-9660.

There are a few designated off-leash area within the city, please check out the website for more information. Remember to pick up your dog’s excrement on all trail heads, use the bags provided and place it in the receptacles. If you notice that the bag holder is empty contact the Animal Control Officer at 250-427-6460. Please be conscientious of everyone who uses the trails, as no one likes to step in dog poo! Let’s all pitch in to keep our trails clean and clear.

Angle Parking

The Bylaw Officer would like to remind everyone that angle parking is not permitted unless otherwise posted. Angle parking narrows the traveled portion of the roadway and creates a hazard for emergency vehicles and general traffic. Thank you for parallel parking.
