Rockies and Ghostriders eliminated

Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) defending champion Kimberley Dynamiters are one step closer to repeating after getting past the Fernie Ghostriders in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Nitros needed five games to get by the battling Riders, winning game five 4-2.

Waiting for Kimberley is the Creston Valley Thunder Cats after they dispatched the Columbia Valley Rockies four games straight.

Game one of the Eddie Mountain Division final is Saturday, March 5 at Kimberley’s Civic Centre.

In other KIJHL playoff match-ups, the Beaver Valley Nitehawks and the Grand Forks Border Bruins are facing off in the other Kootenay Conference series, after getting past the Nelson Leafs and Castlegar Rebels.

In the Okanagan-Shuswap Conference division finals, it is the Osoyoos Coyotes taking on the Summerland Steam and the 100 Miles House Wranglers facing off against the Chase Heat. The Wranglers knocked off Revelstoke Grizzlies four straight and the Heat knocked out Kamloops Storm to advance.
