NSSC Show Case Friday at Civic Arena
By Chris Newel
The North Star Skating Club is proud to announce that it has been able to secure sponsorship once again to offer its annual Ice Show to the community free of charge.
Mark Creek Lions Club, R.W Anderson Contracting Ltd, Moody Bee, Creekside Physiotherapy and Teck have stepped up to sponsor this year’s Show Case 2014.
The North Star Skating Club (NSSC) has a long time tradition of keeping the spirit of bringing a family show to the community that all can enjoy. The NSSC gratefully accepts donations at the door with all money collected going back into developing its skating programs. Currently NSSC offers Canskate (a learn to skate program), Canpowerskate (a program designed for hockey players) and Starskate (a figure skating program that offers both test stream and competitive skating opportunities).
This year’s Show Case 2014 will be held on Friday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kimberley Civic Arena. To offer a sneak peak of the Show the Starskaters performed at the Kimberley Dynamiters game on February 22.
As well this year, the Cranbrook Skating Club celebrated its 60th anniversary on March 1 at the Western Financial Place and Kimberley skaters performed at their show, ‘Celebrating the Decades,’ to embrace this exciting milestone with the Cranbrook Skating Club (pictured above).
NSSC would like to thank its dedicated community sponsors. Without support from service clubs and local businesses the costs associated with organizing an ice show would be too great to keep the show free of charge.
We are grateful to be able to maintain our vision once again this year. Club skaters are currently working with Coach Tamara, Caitlin and Kim in preparing for this year’s show.
Please join us in celebrating a season of skating as we prepare to end a successful and prosperous skating year for the NSSC.
