“This has been a remarkable winter for Panorama so we’re going to let our hair down through closing weekend and celebrate in super hero style. Business levels through winter have been higher than we’ve seen for years with people drawn back to the resort to see improvements driven by more than $10 million in recent investment. We’re proud of the accolades we’ve received for the quality of grooming and for the experience we’ve delivered to skiers and riders of all ages,” stated Steve Paccagnan, President and CEO of Panorama Mountain Resort.

Super Hero Sun Fest takes place on April 9 and 10 and has a schedule of events and activities for everyone.

Saturday’s highlight will be the return of the Slush Showdown – which has not happened since 2011. It challenges skiers and snowboarders to skim their way across a man-made pond with the goal of making it to the other side while staying dry, but to the crowds delight most contestants simply make a big splash.

“It’s the kryptonite of anyone who thinks they can ski anything,” remarked Jamie Hurschler, Marketing Manager at Panorama Mountain Resort. Visitors can register for their chance to be a hero and leave soaking wet or get crowned Champion of the Pond. Prizes will be awarded for crowd favourite, best blunder and best costume.

Sunday marks the last day that the ski trails will be open to the public. This spring the resort is bringing back the Dummy Downhill, a much loved event which has not been showcased for nearly 10 years.

Guests are encouraged to make a ski mounted dummy to be sent on its merry way down a controlled trail for spectator entertainment. “It’s a real blast to see all the clever creations and the lengths that people will go to make the fastest, biggest or craziest entry,” continued Hurschler. The day will be capped off by an après ski barbecue in the resort’s base area and concludes with the tradition of a salute to the Panorama Ski Patrol.

Events will be held at the base of the mountain with entertainment throughout the days and evenings, including dual slalom fun races, on-snow beverage bar, Rossignol & Nordica ski demos, non-stop tunes on the Great Hall patio and a super hero costume dance party at the T-Bar.
