Tennis balls, dogs and ICE equal big prizes

The second intermission of Friday night’s Kootenay ICE and Red Deer Rebels Western Hockey League tilt at Western Financial Place will have a dog-gone special feature.

Friday, Feb. 5 is Tennis Balls on ICE, a fundraiser for the BCSPCA East Kootenay branch.

To become involved, people buy a tennis ball for $5 and during the second intermission the balls are dumped at centre ice; then it gets interesting. Dogs are then sent onto the ice to fetch a ball, with those seized the winners of some awesome prizes.

Prizes include: golf for four including a cart at the Cranbrook Golf Club; $1,000 bed from Bridge Interiors; a Stay and Play Package from St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino; and return airfare for two from Cranbrook to Vancouver or Kelowna from Pacific Coastal Airlines.
