World’s best trained at Panorama

Race training centre hosts Austrian and Canadian National Teams including Olympic Gold Medalist

Panorama Mountain Resort last week welcomed the Austrian Power Ski men’s team after a multi-year absence. The Austrian team trained at Panorama for five days along with members of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team (men’s & women’s).

Panorama1The 2014 Winter Olympic Downhill Gold Medal winner Matthais Mayer (right) was training at the resort with Austria team member, Klaus Kroell, who finished second in the 2013-14 World Cup Downhill standings.

Last week the teams conducted speed training on a course set on Old Timer, while other racers are technical training on Showoff. Both trails are located off the Mile 1 Express chairlift.

This will be the Austrian’s only training stop in Canada before they head to Lake Louise Mountain Resort for the World Cup Downhill on November 29.
