Cranbrook a favourite golf destination
Fore! I hit the golf ball and it goes sailing over the fairway towards the green. I didn’t make it onto the green, but I didn’t get stuck in a sand trap either, which for me is pretty good. I’m on track for par, if my putting works out – fingers crossed!
Even if I don’t make par, I couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting for my golf game. Forested areas along the course are home to many wild animals and the views of the mountains are unparalleled. I love getting outdoors with my friends for a good-natured golf game. Well, mostly good-natured, I do have a competitive streak.
Cranbrook is my favourite golf destination because there are so many great golf courses to choose from – I can play on seven different championship courses that are within 20 minutes of town. Every golf course in the area is unique, but all of them share the beauty of the mountains and the quality of their game. It is my game that is less consistent.
I line up my stance, square my shoulders, and swing my club. The ball lands only a few feet from the hole. I remind myself to be gentle as I putt it towards the hole – just a little tap will do it. I hear the invisible crowd gasp as the ball curves around the hole and ends up on the other side. Darn, I’m over par yet again. Oh well, I’m sure my friends will be up to a re-match and in the meantime I can practice my putting skills at our local mini golf!
