I QUIT – the final smoke

By Deb Elliott

The thought struck me today that it would have been hilarious to make a video with that song ‘I’ve got the Power’…you know…dun     dun      dun du dun    dun    dun du and me doing some cool moves that look like I’ve been hanging with Beyonce and J Lo… but that’s not happening.

What is happening is that I am about to go into my freezing cold disgusting little back room off my kitchen…some of you know that which I speak of….and go smoke my second to last smoke EVER. I tried to time it today so that I would have been done by now but my timing was just a little off. But being the trooper that I am I will sacrifice a little sleep so I can have my last one tonight! Waste not want not right?

Will report back in shortly…

11:34 p.m. … I have decided to make an occasion of this… comfy jammies, a nice hot Bailey’s with a splash of decaf in order to say a proper good bye to the biggest backstabbing sneak of a “friend” I ever had. I have always had the choice of whether to have this friend in my life or not, and as life goes there can be a tendency with us humans to hang onto…which is it, a noun or verb? – the people, places and things that we know aren’t good for us! Well, I’m too old for this shit…to look this stupid, so it’s time to wise up….here goes THE LAST SMOKE!
Aftermath 11:59 p.m. …

A million things ran through my head but one thing started and made me giggle to myself…picture this if you will; Al Pacino as Tony Montana…you know from that movie…Scarface… Michelle Pfeiffer was in it too, but I digress… ANYWAY, Tony Montana was the patch with his face on it saying the famous line “Say good-bye to my little friend” but then I realized it was actually “say HELLO to my little friend”! I was going to make a little cartoon and everything!

It still made me laugh and killed a little of the tension in the room.

Upward and onward!
