Donald Edwin ANDERSON

Eighty-eight-year-old Donald Edwin Anderson passed away at the Elk Valley Hospital on September 29, 2019, surrounded by his family. Donnie was born December 9, 1930 in Golden, BC to parents Ernie and Merle Anderson.

In 1942 Donnie’s parents moved the family to Natal. Throughout the years he worked on his uncle’s farm, joined the Canadian Air Forces and then came back to Sparwood to work in the underground mine, working his way up to the position of Superintendent of Underground Maintenance.

On July 1, 1959 he married his beloved Shirley Travis. Donnie had a great respect for nature; he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing in his early years. He was one of the original members of the Elk Valley Mountaineers Snowmobile Club, passing on his love of snowmobiling to his two sons. A full-time husband, father and grandfather, Donnie will be dearly missed.

Donnie is survived by his sons Lee (Diana) and Jay; 3 granddaughters: Brigette (Steve), Tiffany (Chancey) and Chelsee (Liam), and his great grandchildren Carson, Tyson, Jace, Kaylee and Noah as well as many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
