Obituary for Janet Dale Banks

JANET “JAN” DALE BANKS (CLARK)

NOVEMBER 4, 1941 – MAY 23, 2020
Jan passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving husband and children on Saturday, May 23rd.

Jan was born in Victoria BC to Mary and Clyde Clark.  She grew up in Tuberose Saskatchewan and after graduating she went to Teacher’s College in Saskatoon.  After her teaching career, she then pursued a long time career as a Real Estate Agent in Calgary with Remax and Royal Lepage.

Upon retiring she and her husband Doug decided to move to BC and settled in Cranbrook.  It didn’t take Jan long to make friends because of her love of CARDS.  She had an abundance of friends that she and Doug met at the Elks in Kimberley and the Legion in Cranbrook playing Texas Hold Em. A few years ago, she decided she wanted to try BRIDGE, so . . . another group of friends came into play (pun intended).  She even went a few times to Bridge Tournaments in the States. If you phoned her, and she didn’t seem to want to talk, she was on the computer playing BRIDGE.

Jan leaves behind her loving husband Doug, daughter Marella and son son Rick and their father Elmer Swanson.  She also leaves her  step children Doug, Donna, Carol (Mike) as well as several grandchildren, her sister Val and several nieces and nephews.

Jan was predeceased by her parents, step daughter Pam, and just recently her brother- in- law Johnnie (Migs).

We believe Jan will be sitting around a card table in the HEAVENS with a winning hand as she’s at peace.  A deck of cards are going with her on her journey.  There will be no service at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion in Cranbrook.
