Leslie Sanderson

1931 – 2019

With deep sadness we announce the passing of long time Cranbrook resident Leslie “Sandy” Sanderson on July 3, 2019 at Joseph Creek Care Village

Sandy was born in Cranbrook on October 2, 1931. He received his pilots licence at the age of 16, making him the youngest licensed pilot in Canada.
He was in the Royal Canadian Air Force with NATO, where he served in France, South Africa, and England, where he met the love of his life.
Sandy continued to fly with a civilian flying club. Truly Sandy’s passion lie in the skies.
He will be remembered as a cheerful, smart, and articulate man who enjoyed long conversations on any topic.

Sandy was predeceased by his wife June, Father Ed, Mother Kathleen, three brothers Doug, Don, and Jimmy, and by his infant daughters Margaret and Shirley.

He is survived by his two daughters Judy (John), and Christine (Marcel), two sons Don (Paola), and Tom,
Ten grandchildren Darren (Judith), Darryl (Jenna), David (Annie), Derek (Allison), Daniel (Bailey), Jean-Michel, Jade and Anton, Lindsay (Dean), Jeff (Michela)
Five great-grandchilren Liam, Brynn, Ivy, Ella, and Jayden, 2 sisters Thelma and Corey-Ann.

On behalf of Sandy’s family, we would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Rolandi, the hospital staff, and the staff at Joseph Creek Care Village for their care and support.

A private graveside ceremony has taken place.
