1940 – 2019

It is with the deepest sorrow that the family of Ron Turner announces his passing on Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta at 78 years of age. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, son and friend.

Ron was born on August 22, 1940 in Westlock, AB. He was a kind hearted man who loved and adored his family. Ron was hard working, funny, supportive and a wonderful man. He had a great sense of humour that kept everyone on their toes. Ron was always there for people in need and readily lent a helping hand to his family and friends. A millwright by trade, Ron worked for Cominco/Teck for 36 years in a job that he loved. Ron was a carpenter by heart and loved to build furniture, toys and many other items including his family home. He loved his many years volunteering at KUMR. Ron will be deeply missed by all the people who knew and loved him.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Darlene; his children Rob (Silvija) and Shari, his brothers Mike (Wendy) and Bob and their families, his grandchildren Melissa (Travis), Carmen and Ian, his great-granddaughters Jordin and Riley, his sister-in-law Sheila Lorentz, his brother-in-law Tom (Debbi), many nieces and nephews and their families.

Ron was predeceased by his father Henry, his mother Florence, his sister Marilyn (Rick), his brother Ken, and his brothers-in-law Rick Olson and Matt Lorentz.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm at McPherson Funeral Home in Kimberley.

Ron will be interred in a private family gathering at the Kimberley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honour can be made to the Sullivan Mine and Railway Historical Society, PO Box 94, Kimberley, BC, V1A 2Y5 or the charity of your choosing.
