DRAGOVAN (FIR), ROSE (TEREZIJA)

DECEMBER 23, 1946 – APRIL 4, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  Rose peacefully passed away at home in the arms of the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

Rose was born on December 23, 1946 in Bereca vas, Slovenia and came to Canada in December 1961.  She met and eventually married Louie Dragovan in 1966.  They resided in Cranbrook where they raised their three lovely children.

She is survived by her daughter Maryann (Bruce Benson) and grandchildren Amanda, Brittany and William and their father Richard Kirkvold, and great-granddaughter Dylan; daughter Sonja (Bill Gardner); son Joe (Kathy) and grandchildren Mason, Michaela and Matthew, as well as her brothers Tony, Joe and sister, Marija and many other family members in Slovenia.

Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband of 44 years, Louis, as well as her father Janez Fir, mother Nezka Macelle and step-father Louis Macelle, siblings Janez, Nezka, Anica, Martin and Franc.

The family wishes to extend their heart-felt thanks to Dr. Rolandi, Christina Watson R.N., John Bolger R.R.T. and Tony Maerkl Eucharistic Minister for their assistance in helping to provide the best comfort measures possible for Rose in her final days.

Vigil prayers for Rose will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Cranbrook on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.  A celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Rose may do so to:  Muscular Dystrophy Canada 302-601 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC  V5Z 4C2.
