Obituary for William Henry Nightingale

WILLIAM HENRY NIGHTINGALE

AUGUST 7, 1929 – FEBRUARY 11, 2021

On Thursday, February 11, 2021 William Henry  Nightingale II passed away at the Kootenay Street Village in Cranbrook at the age of 91 years.  Bill was born on August 7, 1929 in Montreal, Quebec to father William Henry Nightingale I and mother Jessie (Skinner) Nightingale.

Bill was married to Marian Mugford on  September 4, 1953 and they were blessed with five children.  Bill made his career in the Canadian Armed Forces and retired from the Air Force to live in British Columbia.  He followed his life-long passion for skiing.  Cranbrook was also closer to Marian’s family in Kelowna.  Bill kept his family active by introducing his children to sports and camping.  Many family trips and weekends were spent at campgrounds.  He loved to travel with Marian in their RV and on many cruises.

Bell leaves to mourn his passing his four sons; Bill Jr., Geoff (Ester), Brian (Judy) and Larry (Teresa).  He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren; Christina, Tom, Kate, Kelly, Michelle, Jenn, Alex and Maria as well as four great grandchildren; Piper, Danielle, Laila and Ellie.  Bill also leaves his sister Edythe.  Bill was predeceased by his wife Marian in 2018 and his daughter, Noreen in 1999.

Due to Covid regulations, there will be no service at this time.  Our hope is to have a service this summer when the times permit.  Bill will be laid to rest next to his wife Marian and daughter Noreen in Fort Steele Cemetery.
