Barbara Colleen Leal

August 4, 1952 – October 29, 2021

It is with deep sorrow, that the family of Barbara Colleen Leal announce her passing on October 29, 2021, at the F.W Green Home, with her family at her side. Barb’s nightmare battling cancer for the last seven years is now over. She fought the hard fight, but her heart finally gave out.

Barb was born in Kimberley, B.C., the youngest daughter of Murray Bell and Ria Macleod. She attended school in Kimberley and Business School in Trail. She met Terry Leal in 1972 and together they married on December 28, 1974, in Kimberley. They had close to 49 years together. Barb and Terry loved to run, bike, ski, and golf all over Canada, the United States, and many other places around the world. Together they lived in Cranbrook and Barb worked at Parkland School, Inland Kenworth, Millar and Brown, Motorways and Dr Craig Spowart’s Dental Office for over a 43-year period. Barb and Terry loved to travel and had many great vacations including Canada, Europe, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

Barb is survived by her loving husband Terry, sisters Elsje Lowe and Marianna MacLeod, nieces Cindy Golbeck, Corrie Lowe, and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents Murray Bell and Ria MacLeod, her brothers Murray Bell Jr and Tony.

The family would like to thank the Oncology Department at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, the Tamarak Medical Clinic (Dr Oosthuizen), the nurses and staff on the third floor and the nurses and staff at the F.W Green Home for the care and support received by Barb, she really loved you.

Barb’s wishes were that there be no Funeral or Celebration of Life. Barb will be interred in the Kimberley Cemetery Columbarium in 2022.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Barb’s memory can be made to the Oncology Department at the East Kootenay Hospital  https://www.ekfh.ca/ or the East Kootenay SPCA. https://spca.bc.ca/locations/east-kootenay/
