Charles Manners

1921 – 2021

Charles “Charlie” Manners, age 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C. He was born June 8, 1921 in Kellogg, Idaho, to Ben and Lillian Manners. In 1930, the family moved to Cranbrook where Charlie has resided ever since.

Charlie graduated high school in Cranbrook and went on to make his living as a Retail and Wholesale Salesman at Kelly-Douglas and later as a Realtor through the firm of Caldwell Agencies.

In 1983 Charlie married Marie Riley and the two of them spent many happy times travelling, square dancing, and volunteering at the Catholic Church. Charlie could always be found working on projects in his workshop or fixing and building anything and everything. He will be remembered by those who loved him for his beautiful humility, endless generosity, warm kindness, and witty sense of humor.

Charlie was predeceased by his wife, Marie Manners in 2011, his sister Dora, and his parents Ben and Lillian.

Charlie will be deeply missed by his two step daughters Lenore Mackenzie (Len) and Kathleen Obara (Grant), his six grandchildren; Jim Vulcano (Lisa), Brian Vulcano, Jodi Matsalla (Mark), Jeff Obara (Chantal), Kevin Orr (Amanda) and Craig Orr; and many great-grandchildren, along with close friends Daryl and Betty Lockwood.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a private Funeral Service will be held at St. Basil’s Catholic Church. Interment at the Westlawn Cemetery in Cranbrook.
