Obituary of Donald Wilson
December 13, 1931 – June 11, 2021
Donald “Don” Wilson passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021 at Joseph Creek Village.
Don was born in Edmonton, AB on December 13, 1931 and grew up in Edgewater and Cranbrook. His working life included logging, long haul driver (Millar and Brown), bus driver (Fording Coal), float operator (Sullivan Concentrator) and loader operator (Sullivan Fertilizer).
Don loved the outdoors and preferred to be out there hiking, sailing, camping and snowmobiling. He also loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Europe, Hawaii and Central America.
Don also loved to explore B.C., and the Yukon and southern states in the fifth wheel with Dagmar. His biggest passion, though, was tinkering in his well-equipped workshop. Sadly, Parkinson’s took that joy from him in his later years. His love for his pets however – cats and dogs – spanned his entire life.
Don is survived by his son, Stephen (Inge) of Hope, B.C, grandson Dylan of Vernon, B.C and niece Leslye of Ronald, WA and her family. He also leaves behind his partner in life, Dagmar Allen and her three adult sons, David (Jackie), Jeff (Dee) and Greg (Trish) and their families.
He was predeceased by his sister Marina (1956), infant daughter Marina (1961), first wife Carol (2016) and son Michael (2016).
The family thanks Dr. Kevin McIver, the staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital and Joseph Creek Village for the exceptional care and support they provided.
There will be no public service at this time. There will be a private family gathering later in the summer where Don will be remembered, alongside his father and youngest son.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be appreciated.
