Obituary of Duncan Chalmers

Duncan Chalmers

January 1, 1962 – December 24, 2020

Duncan was a New Years baby, born early in the morning of January 1, 1962, in Port Arthur, Ontario. His parents Clouston and Audrey Chalmers immigrated to Canada in 1956 and moved to Cranbrook in 1965 where Duncan grew up. After graduating from Mount Baker Secondary School, Duncan moved to Victoria, B.C., and worked as a Dental Technician for many years. He loved Vancouver Island and his time living there. Due to health reasons, Duncan relocated to Cranbrook in 2006 to be closer to his family.  One of Duncan’s hobbies was fly fish tying and he could be found at many Farmer’s Markets selling his flies and chatting to local fishermen in Cranbrook and Fernie. Duncan also volunteered for the Salvation Army, delivering school lunches with his dad.  Duncan will be missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his mother Audrey, brothers Graham (Marj), David (Nancy), sister Melissa (Bruce) Hamm, nieces Cheryl-Lyn and Hannah Chalmers, four nephews Max Chalmers, Shaydon, Jeffrey and Michael Hamm.

Duncan was predeceased by his father Clouston Chalmers in 2014.

Rest in Peace Duncan.

Jesus said…   “Come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest.”

Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no formal service at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Duncan’s honour to the Salvation Army.
