June KAISNER

On Monday, March 22nd, supported by her caregivers and loved ones, Myria June Kaisner passed away peacefully at the age of 86.

June was born in Strome, AB. As a child she moved to Hope, BC with her family, and it was here that she eventually met George Kaisner. They were married in 1953, and lived and raised their six children in the Elk Valley.

June managed the Co-Op from its opening in Natal until its closing in Sparwood many years later. She was an active member of the Sparwood Seniors (SOAPS) where she enjoyed quilting and volunteering in the drop-in center kitchen. Many years of volunteering at the New to You as well kept her active and very busy.

June’s passion was her beautifully maintained yard full of flower gardens in which she spent endless hours and took great pride in. Picking berries and fruit of any kind was another passion of June’s. She eagerly awaited the seasons, especially for the huckleberries. Large family gatherings, of which there were many, at the farm were a huge highlight of June’s life.

June will be dearly missed by her children Jewelle (Bill) Wojtula, Chris (Michele) Kaisner, Kathy (Bill) Cytko, Jenny Kaisner, David Kaisner, and daughter-in-law Shirlene Kaisner; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and sisters Joy Johnson and Eldie Smith as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George Kaisner, son Dan Kaisner, grandson Ricky Kaisner, her sister Lu Moerke and her brother Bert Seward.
