Another rock legend coming to Cranbrook
Iconic Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper is booked to perform at Cranbrook’s Western Financial Place on Nov. 13.
Without Alice Cooper, there might never have been, KISS, New York Dolls, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Motley Crue, Slipnot or Rob Zombie… maybe not even David Bowie, or at least not Ziggy Stardust.
The iconic hard rocker literally invented the concept of the rock concert as theatre, and on November 13, Cooper brings his ‘Raise the Dead Tour’ to Cranbrook.
According to Kootenay Concert Connection President, FJ Hurtak, Cooper’s appearance has been in the works for quite some time. “My business partner and I have been working with Chris New from the City of Cranbrook, and our agent for well over a year now trying to schedule a date and negotiate a contract for Cranbrook. Alice Cooper is one of the most sought after artists in the world and it’s very difficult at times to put together a package that is workable for all parties. Every time we thought we had it locked up, a routing problem or some other issue would cause the deal to go sideways. With a great deal of perseverance at all levels we finally managed to do it. We are so pleased to bring another artist of this calibre to the East Kootenay following in the footsteps of Bob Dylan, Johnny Reid, and Randy Travis.”
‘Welcome 2 my Nightmare’ is Cooper’s latest album recorded in 2011. It was his 26th studio album and upon its release, exploded onto the Billboard 200 Charts landing at #22.
With a music career that started over 40 years ago, Alice Cooper was again sitting squarely on the charts with artists such as Lady Gaga, Primus, Bush, and Beyonce.
This amazing achievement for one of music’s most influential artists proves the relevance and popularity of Alice Cooper today. One might think that all of Cooper’s fans would be over 50 years of age, but nothing could be further from the truth. The video game ‘Guitar Heroes’ has introduced a whole new generation to his music.
“Every nine-year-old I run into tells me, ‘I can play ‘Schools Out’ and ‘No More Mr. Nice Guy,'” says Cooper.
With a schedule that includes six months of every year on the road, Alice Cooper is bringing his own brand of rock psychodrama to fans both old and new, and enjoying it as much as the audience does.
As he heads back on the concert trail again this fall, Alice insists he’s still motivated to continue touring and making albums, as well as making time for such side projects as Coopers’s Town (his Phoenix-based restaurant/sports bar), his Alice Cooper, Golf Monster book, and his Nights with Alice Cooper radio show syndicated worldwide on over 100 radio stations.
“If there’s nothing standing in my way, why not”? he shrugs. “It’s what I love doing…and no one puts on a show like ours, musically and visually”.
Cooper’s music has been featured in hit movies like Dark Shadows, Wayne’s World, Diary of a Mad Housewife and Roadie, and many of his songs have been smash worldwide hits including ‘Only Women Bleed’, ‘I Never Cry’, ‘I’m Eighteen’, ‘No More Mr. Nice Guy’, and one of the greatest and lasting rock anthems of all time ‘School’s Out.’
Cooper was in the class of 2011 inductees into the worldwide Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame. He was singled out at the ceremony as the original self-proclaimed rock villain, who brought a new level of music and visual theatrics to arenas.
An Evening with Alice Cooper, ‘The Raise the Dead Tour,’ stops in Cranbrook on November 13 at 7:30 p.m.
