The Cromoli Brothers present Hello Kimberley!

Popular actor and comedian Lucas Myers has entertained audiences at Centre 64 on at least two, probably three, previous occasions in the past few years with his multi-character, one-man comedy shows including Hello Baby. His last visit this spring brought us Randy the Redneck.

In The Cromoli Brothers present Hello Kimberley! Myers will play two characters in a series of comedy sketches, stand-up routines, post-modern vaudeville, and musical numbers.

The series of 15 vignettes range from the political to the poignant to the absurd and are reported to be “very funny” by reviewers.  Myers accompanies himself on ukulele, melodica and glockenspiel in a number of original songs and a unique cover of David Bowie. Myers warns that many of the sketches presented, such as Nude Beach, Dear Mary I’m in a Gang Now, Sex, and Shot in the Dark, are meant for adult audiences and are not considered suitable for children. After all, he uses nude sock puppets in his show!

The Cremoli Brothers present Hello Kimberley! starts at 8 p.m. Wine and refreshments will be available in the theatre during the intermission. Tickets are just $10, a special festival price, and can be purchased in advance at Centre 64, the Snowdrift Café, or at the door.

This show will be the third event in the festival ,which starts with the First Saturday celebration of arts, culture and heritage on August 2, followed by the family Picnic in the Park with Old Spice and magician, The Amazing Jeremy, at Rotary Park on Sunday, August 3.

It will be followed on Tuesday by a wine & cheese reception at Centre 64 with a painting demonstration by Calgary artist, Doug Swinton.

On Wednesday the Wandering Wordsmythes prose, poetry, and music event with keynote Angie Abdou will take place at Centre 64 and on Thursday Trina Rasmusen and students will scale the outer wall of the Spirit Rock climbing centre in the Platzl for a vertical dance performance with musical accompaniment by the Kimberley Community Band.

Friday evening sees the traditional opening Gala Reception of the 10th annual Arts on the Edge adjudicated exhibition and silent auction with the Don Davies Jazz Quartet entertaining and the festival closes on Saturday, August 9, with a day of festival activities, including a morning Paint Out in the Platzl, afternoon music in the Platzl and at the Centre 64 outdoor stage, artisan displays and demos, and Kids Zone crafts, hoola- hooping and face-painting.

The festival concludes with an evening concert on the Centre 64 outdoor stage by celebrated Calgary bluesman, Donald Ray Johnson and his band.
