Kootenay artisans at Centre 64

By Mike Redfern

Some of the best artisans in the Kootenays and beyond will be displaying and selling their craft products in Kimberley Arts Council’s annual Christmas Gift Show, which opens this year on November 26 and runs to December 21 in the Gallery at Centre 64.

Centre64Each year a group of outstanding artists and artisans is invited by the arts council to provide a wide range of original hand-made craft products of a consistently high quality. This year’s selection is no exception, including some craftworks that proved particularly popular last year and introducing some entirely new artisans and products to the show.

Exhibiting and selling their unique art and craftworks this year are Kimberley artists and artisans Virginia Anderson, Helen Robertson, Lori Joe, Kara Clarke, Christine Warren, and Marianne Rennick along with Janet Klock of Golden, Carolyn Barzilay of Fairmont Hot Springs (pictured), Greg Dahl of Calgary, Darlene Purnell of Cranbrook, Nicole Yanota of Coleman, and Sandy Kunze of Wynndel.

KAC visual arts committee chair Linda Douglas is excited about this year’s show.

“There is everything from hand-felted mitts to hand-made jewellery, glassware to woodcrafts, pottery to paintings in this year’s show. It is the perfect place to find that unique gift for someone special on your Christmas list,” she said.

The show and sale is open to the public between 1 and 5 p.m. every Tuesday through Saturday and admission is free.
