The Show Will Go On
After months of waiting and hoping, Key City Theatre is excited to announce that 9 to 5 the Musical will indeed go on! Mark your calendars for summertime fun, as the show will be remounted July 8, 9, 10, 14 & 15 at Key City Theatre.
The run of the show was cancelled in January. Brenda Burley, Director of the project, never lost hope. “We stored the set, costumes and props, told our actors to keep their lines and songs fresh, and then waited to see what the pandemic would do”.
As restrictions lifted and things started to get back to normal, Burley gathered the cast for a quick run of the show to see where everyone was at after a few months of down time. “They blew my mind! What a cast. Other than a few little hiccups, the show ran as smoothly as it did when we ran it at dress rehearsal in December. Muscle memory is an incredible thing.”
Almost all of the full cast and crew were available for the new dates, with a few exceptions. Amy Penney will be playing the role of Violet and Patrick Baranowski will take on the deplorable Franklin Hart. Burley has full confidence in the new cast additions. “Amy and Patrick were able to step into the roles very smoothly, as they have each spent months learning the roles as understudies. They bring unique nuances to their characters that is so fun to watch.”
