If someone has a panic attack, chances are you don’t.

WHAT IS MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID
Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.  Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person until medical treatment can be obtained, Mental Health First Aid is given until appropriate treatment is found or the crisis is resolved.

The Mental Health First Aid program aims to improve mental health literacy, and provide the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in a family member, a friend, a colleague, or themselves.

WHO TAKES MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID?
While Mental Health First Aid – Veteran Community has content specific to issues associated with transitioning out of the Canadian Armed Forces, the workshop can be beneficial for anyone, especially family members or those who work directly with veterans.

For more information or to register:  bcmfrc.com/MHFAdetails

The workshop is free, but advance registration is required.  Registration deadline:  October 11

(Morning & afternoon coffee provided; participants will provide their own lunch)
