Coldest Night marches past fundraising goal

Coldest Night of the Year 2021 was held February 20 and Canadian Mental Health Association for the Kootenays is beyond words of gratitude and appreciation to all those who walked, donated and sponsored the fundraiser.

This year our goal was $20,000 and at time of writing you together have raised over $28,000. Every day we still see walkers sign up and donations coming in. Thank you so much for helping us help others!

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our 15 Team Captains for stepping forward and putting together teams who believe in helping those who are homeless, hungry and hurting.  The Team Captains rallied 99 walkers and 349 donors to believe and support this fundraiser.  Thank you.

Our top three Team Captains and Teams were:

Desiree and the Student Nurses Against Homelessness;

Brittani and Western Financial Group – Kootenays;

Brian and Team BriKat.

Combined, these teams raised over $10,000 – truly amazing and inspiring!

Thank you to all the walkers, business and individual donors.  We had walkers from Cranbrook, Kimberley, Canal Flats, Fort Steele, Wardner, Baynes Lake, Jaffray, Fernie, Sparwood and Saskatchewan.  Our top fundraiser was Sarah Jessome from Fernie – thank you.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our lead sponsor, Berry Architecture & Associates.  This company believes in the work and services provided by CMHA Kootenays.

CMHA Kootenays would also like to thank our sponsors: Tim Hortons, the City of Cranbrook, Cranbrook Alliance Church, and College of the Rockies. We also appreciate our wonderful media sponsors including e-KNOW, B104 Total Country, 102.9FM The Drive, Cranbrook Townsman, and 2DayFM as they supported the event by informing their listeners and readers about CNOY and how to get involved.

Many thanks go to the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort- Cranbrook for providing a gift certificate for a one-night stay in the rail suite valued at $450 and to Starbucks Cranbrook who donated three gift bags.  Congratulations to all the winners.

If you are comfortable and want to share photos of your walk so we can post on social media, email them to [email protected]. We would love to see the fun you had!  We also have extra toques, so if you would like one, come see us at 100-1000 21st Ave N Cranbrook.

Thank you again to all those who supported Coldest Night of the Year – this fundraiser was successful because of you!

We will walk again on February 26, 2022!
