Casey Johnson, Tyler Hawthorne and Scott McClain of Copper Point Golf Club (pictured above) have supported the PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS for the past eight years. This year, on June 17, the group golfed a collective 1,080 holes including a hole-in-one by Scott!

This was the second hole-in-one during the Golfathon for Scott and the fourth for the club. Scores can be reviewed at www.golfathonforals.ca for Copper Point Golf Club.

Dale along with Michael Midyette, Dave Dakin, Ken Litchfield, Jake Cameron and Vic Briar golfed a collective 864 holes in one day to support the PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS.  In all, $785 was raised to support the ALS Society of BC patient service programs.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a fatal neurodegenerative disorder that affects the person’s motor neurons that carry messages to the muscles resulting in weakness and wasting in arms, legs, mouth, throat and elsewhere; typically the person is immobilized within two to five years of the initial diagnosis. There is no known cause or cure yet, but there is hope through the ALS Society of BC.

“On behalf of the Association, I am extremely excited for the PGA of BC’s ninth year of participation with Golfathon for ALS, benefiting the ALS Society of BC patient services. In our eight years of involvement, the efforts of our members have generated over $869,000. We have also assisted the over 2,800 individuals in British Columbia whom are fighting this deadly disease. I am confident that with the continued support of our members, 2014 will be the year where the program will eclipse the $1 million mark,” stated Donald Miyazaki, Executive Director of the PGA of BC;

Proceeds from the PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS provide important support services to ALS patients and research to find a cure.
